Sometimes some "fresh eyes" is all you need to resolve what's not working in a space . You view so many details that don't quite feel right, you can't see the wood for the trees,. Simple "tweaks" such as rearranging the layout of the furniture within an existing room can often go a long way to making a space feel more integrated and supportive. If that sounds like you, a 1 - 1.5 hour on site Home Improvement consultation may be all that's required*
There is however a vast spectrum of possibilities available when it comes to home improvement. On one side of the spectrum, there's the practical element of redesigning a space to be more functional, i.e storage solutions. On the other side there's the urge for a certain mood or ambiance, i.e a sanctuary, which enables you to unwind and recharge. Designing an interior that wears well for a long time to come is found in the balance between functionality, colour, light and proportion....and the most important factor is whether these elements contribute to a sense of well being for the individuals who occupy the space .
Decisions around finishes, fixtures or lighting selections can also be a time consuming task if a complete refurbishment is being considered. Getting a consultation for finishes (tiles, timber etc.) fittings (handles etc.) and fixtures (bench tops, sinks, taps, lights etc) can also have the advantage of getting a cohesive style happening throughout the space. The goal of a Living Balance Designs FFE consultation would be the creation of a schedule which includes supplier details and prices within your defined budget . This then gives you everything you need to do the buying yourself, or you can simply hand the schedule to your tradesmen. The schedule is presented to you on site with relevant samples.
A Living Balance Designs' consultation can assist you with different requirements at different stages of the design process Essential to this consultation no matter what stage it's at, is in clear communication with the clients and/or tradesmen.

Initial phone call or meeting - This is when we either talk on the phone or meet in person .
First stage meeting - On site consultation to discuss all aspects of design brief. This is when ideas, preferences, priorities and budget are discussed. All significant information is documented at this meeting with visual documentation/drawings/photos , notes, detailed measurements, limitations etc. Clients are required to have any relevant plans, inspirational images, swatches or paint chips ready for this stage . Lizzie will then go ahead and research/ design based on information and inspiration gathered .
Second stage - Design Proposal which might involve a preliminary Concept or Mood board ( a visual tool to clarify between Lizzie and client that brief is on track colour or style wise). Or this stage may involve layout or elevations depending on nature of design brief . This stage may require further modification or reworking until client is happy to approve the next stage. Lizzie will not proceed to specifying/sourcing products/materials until the client is happy with the proposed concept, layout etc
Third stage - Sourcing or specifying products or finishes for the brief within the budget. Communication is essential between Lizzie and client to ensure the clients understand selections made . This stage is complete when client is happy with selections. Final drawings, plans or schedules are compiled at this stage.
Fourth stage - Finalisation and implementation of selections, which can include ordering furnishings, materials and products, collaborating or liaising with builders, trades, suppliers and manufacturers.
Fifth stage - Final inspection of project to make sure everyone's happy with the outcome. Final drawings, plans or schedules can be compiled into a Client Folio.
